Make Oatmeal Bath for Dog

How to Make Oatmeal Bath for Dog


Blend one cup of plain uncooked oatmeal in blender until it is fine powder. Powdering oatmeal makes oatmeal dissolve in water easily. Any type of oatmeal is suitable, as long as it is plain oatmeal. Do not use oatmeal that contains flavorings or sugar.


Fill up bathtub with lukewarm water to level that will reach middle of your dog's chest. Test temperature of water on inside of your wrist. water should feel comfortably warm. If water feels cold or hot, adjust temperature accordingly.


Add cup of powdered oatmeal to bath water. Use your hand to swish oatmeal powder around in water to dissolve powder. Make sure to mix oatmeal powder thoroughly so that it does not clump at bottom of bathtub. bath water will turn milky white color as oatmeal dissolves.


Recheck temperature of bath water with inside of your wrist to make sure that it is still at comfortable temperature for your dog and adjust it if necessary.


Place your dog in bath water to soak. With your hands, gently scoop some of oatmeal bath water onto to your dog's back. Continue to do this every few minutes. Allow your dog to soak in oatmeal bath for 10 to 15 minutes. Talk to your dog, scoop water on its back and pet it while it soaks.
