Live With Allergy to Food Additives and Dyes - There are hundreds of additives, to name but in our food, including preservatives, coloring agents, antioxidants, flavor enhancers, emulsifiers and artificial sweeteners a few. Many of them are useful and harmless, but others can be toxic and cause cancer in susceptible individuals, and can cause a number of reactions ranging from rashes, diarrhea or headaches to deadly diseases.


How to Live With Allergy to Food Additives and Dyes


Limit or avoid processed and prepackaged foods. They contain most additives.


Eat diet of fresh whole foods.


Learn all names of additive to which you are allergic. Additives go by many different names. For example, food coloring Tartrazine is also known as FDandamp C Yellow No. 5.


Read labels on processed and packaged foods carefully.


Check fresh foods as well. For example, many commercial oranges are dyed. This can cause reaction for individuals sensitive to food dyes.
