Manage Child's Dust Allergies - dust allergies are very common in children. Even if you do any environment you can control your child is, you can control your home environment, especially bedrooms. Management allergy to dust mites require in your child's room minimizes dust and there are many products that you can buy, but a few simple strategies that do not require money can make life bearable for your child.


How to Manage Child's Dust Allergies


Encase mattress and pillow as well as duvet cover or comforter. Encasings minimize opportunity for dust mites to reproduce since they thrive in dark, warm places such as your bed and bedding. See Resources for online vendors of encasement products.


Wash your child's bed linens every week in hot, not warm, water. Hot water will kill off any active dust mites. And, though dust mites live in every home, you need to work actively to kill them off. They live off of human skin's shedding scales, so bed is key component to minimizing your child's allergies.


Remove any rugs from bedroom. Rugs are again haven for dust mites. If you have hardwood floors, make sure you have washable throw rugs in room that you can wash weekly in hot water. For those with carpeted rooms, vacuum using High Efficiency Particle Air HEPA vacuum to clean carpet and avoid sending allergens into air.


Store stuffed animals off bed or, ideally, in another room. Stuffed animals, frequently stored on bed by loving kids, are one of greatest sources of morning sniffles and coughs. Dust mites thrive in these loved toys, so keep them off bed at minimum and in another room is ideal.


Run air purifier with HEPA filters. High Efficiency Particle Air HEPA filter air to remove dust mites that can cause allergic reactions. You may think that any air filter will be useful, but HEPA filter is key to managing your child's dust allergy. See Resources for discussion of air filters.
